Use Aluminium Wood Primer when working with resinous softwoods (like sap-heavy pine or cypress), oily hardwoods with high tannins, or wood previously treated with creosote. Standard primers allow resins to bleed through, whereas aluminium flakes create an impenetrable barrier.
As the primer dries, the microscopic aluminium flakes align parallel to the surface, overlapping like fish scales. This dense metallic matrix blocks moisture, UV light, and liquid resins from passing through.
Yes. Creosote is notorious for bleeding through ordinary paints. Two coats of Glory Aluminium Wood Primer effectively seal weathered creosoted timber so it can be painted.
It covers approximately 11 to 13 square metres per litre per coat.
Apply one coat of Glory Universal Undercoat White over the grey metallic primer, followed by two coats of Glory Supergloss Enamel.
Sienna Paints stocks genuine 1L and 4L tins with fast dispatch across Nairobi and all 47 counties in Kenya.
