Sikafloor®-21 PurCem®
Sikafloor®-21 PurCem® is an internationally certified polyurethane construction solution from Sika Kenya delivering outstanding durability, adhesion, and protection for building and civil engineering projects across Kenya.
Heavy-duty polyurethane resin screeds, thermal shock flooring (-40C to +120C), and food-grade hygienic finishes for commercial kitchens and processing plants across Kenya.
Standard epoxy floors, while durable, cannot withstand thermal shock from boiling water washdowns or freezing cold room temperatures without cracking and debonding. We provide specialized polyurethane (PU) resin screed contracting engineered specifically for aggressive food, beverage, chemical, and pharmaceutical processing environments across Kenya. Our seamless PU screeds (commonly 4mm to 9mm thick) provide extreme thermal shock resistance (-40C to +120C), chemical resistance against organic fatty acids, and certified hygienic compliance for food-grade facilities.
This heavy-duty contracting service is vital for demanding industrial environments where standard epoxy fails:
PU screeds develop immense tensile strength as they cure. To anchor the screed and prevent curling, we cut continuous 10mm x 10mm perimeter anchor grooves into the concrete around all perimeter edges, column bases, drains, and equipment plinths. The concrete is mechanically prepared to a heavy CSP 3 to 4 profile, primed with polyurethane resin primer, and hand-troweled or power-floated to the specified thickness.
We test concrete strength and cut 10mm x 10mm mechanical anchor grooves around all perimeters, drains, and plinths.

Epoxy is rigid and brittle when exposed to rapid temperature changes, causing it to crack and debond when washed with boiling water or subjected to freezing conditions. Polyurethane screeds have a similar coefficient of thermal expansion to concrete, allowing them to withstand extreme thermal shock from -40C up to +120C, making them essential for food processing and steam cleaning.
Polyurethane screeds exert high shrinkage stress as they cross-link. Without mechanical anchor grooves, this stress can cause the edges of the screed to curl upwards and debond. We cut 10mm x 10mm grooves around all walls, drains, and doorways so the screed physically locks into the concrete.
Yes. Unlike standard epoxies that require bone-dry concrete, many heavy-duty polyurethane resin screeds are moisture-tolerant and can be successfully installed over clean concrete that has residual dampness, which is common in operational food factories.
PU screeds can be formulated with graded silica quartz aggregate to achieve customized slip-resistance ratings (from R10 to R13). This provides exceptional grip even when the floor is covered in water, animal fats, or cooking oils, preventing worker slips.
Most PU screeds allow light foot traffic after 24 hours at 20C to 25C. Full chemical, mechanical, and thermal shock resistance is typically achieved after 48 to 72 hours, significantly faster than many standard epoxy mortar systems.
Yes. Our food-grade PU screed systems are non-porous, non-toxic, and free from volatile solvents that could taint food during or after curing. They comply with international food safety standards (including HACCP guidelines) and contain antimicrobial additives.
We inspect the site, calibrate concrete moisture levels with digital impedance meters, evaluate substrate soundness, and write an exact bill of quantities before quotation.
