Crown Coil Coating is designed for crown coil coating backcoat is a single component, polyester resin-based metal coating to give back side protection to metals finished with coil coating. it can also be used as a primer to be topcoated with coil coating. substrates: suitably prepared hot dip galvanised iron and cold rolled steel. It is formulated by Crown Paints for commercial and residential applications requiring high durability.
Crown Coil Coating is suitable for application on properly prepared cement plaster, concrete, drywall, timber, or metal. All substrates must be structurally sound, dry, free of dust, grease, oil, and loose or flaking material prior to coating.
Use Thinner: Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) Thinning: Supplied Ready For Use. Dilution: Supplied Ready For Use. For brush or roller application, thin only up to 5–10% by volume if necessary. For spray application, adjust according to spray equipment manufacturer instructions (typically 10–15%). Do not over-thin.
Crown Coil Coating achieves touch dry in approximately 1–2 hours touch dry, and is ready for recoat after 4–6 hours under standard Kenyan ambient conditions (25°C, 50% RH). Drying will take longer in cold, damp, or poorly ventilated conditions.
The theoretical spreading rate is approximately 10–14 m² per litre per coat, depending on substrate porosity, texture, surface profile, and application loss. Two coats are generally recommended for optimal opacity and film build.
Yes, for fresh plaster, powdery masonry, bare metal, or unpainted timber, an appropriate primer or sealer must be applied first. Applying an appropriate primer ensures maximum adhesion, prevents suction, and prevents premature coating failure.
Crown Coil Coating is commercially supplied in 20L, 200L. Pack availability may vary based on tint base and batch production.
