Power-troweling pushes fine cement cream (laitance) to the surface, creating a slick, glass-like finish with sealed pores. Paint cannot penetrate this layer and will peel under vehicle tyres. Glory Acid Wash etches away the laitance, opening concrete pores to a rough sandpaper texture that locks paint permanently.
Perform the water-drop test: sprinkle drops of water onto the concrete. If the water beads up and sits on the surface without soaking in within 60 seconds, the concrete is too smooth and MUST be acid-etched before painting.
Mix 1 part Acid Wash with 1 to 2 parts clean water in a plastic bucket (always add acid to water, never water to acid). One litre of diluted mix covers approximately 4 to 6 square metres.
Allow the acid to fizz and foam for 10 to 15 minutes, scrubbing with a stiff-bristle plastic broom. Then flush immediately and thoroughly with abundant clean water until all foaming stops and runoff is neutral.
Allow the washed concrete to dry thoroughly for at least 48 to 72 hours until internal moisture is below 4% before applying Glory 2-Pack Epoxy Primer or Floor Paint.
