On actual construction sites in Kenya, coverage rates vary by 10% to 25% depending on concrete substrate porosity, surface texture (rough tamped, wood float, or power-floated), mechanical surface preparation, application tools (brush, notched trowel, or airless spray), and ambient temperature fluctuations.
Receiving substrates must be structurally sound, free of grease, oil, dust, loose laitance, efflorescence, and existing debonded coatings. For cementitious slurries (such as SikaTop and Sika MonoTop), the concrete surface must be brought to a Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) condition—meaning pores are saturated with water but no puddles remain—to prevent dry concrete from rapidly absorbing mixing water and causing early shrinkage cracks.
At typical Kenyan daytime temperatures of +25°C to +30°C, the usable working time (pot life) of SikaCeram®-650 Tile Grout KE is approximately 60 minutes at 22°C & 50% relative humidity. Allow 4 to 12 hours between coats; 7 days for full hydraulic / chemical cure before overcoating. High ambient temperatures or direct equatorial sunlight accelerate curing; keep mixed materials shaded and avoid mixing larger batches than can be placed within the pot life.
SikaCeram®-650 Tile Grout KE is supplied in factory original packaging: 3kg and 1kg plastic film bags. Paints Kenya supplies complete factory units from individual cartridges and pails up to palletized contractor consignments with verified batch integrity and intact security seals.
